Downloadable Audios & eBooks
Library patrons now have anytime, anywhere access to a dynamic collection of digital audio books & e-books through a new library service BRIDGES, a statewide online resource sharing service.
With a valid library card, patrons of the Guttenberg Library who are in good standing can log onto the digital library website through the catalog page. Once logged on to their own accounts, patrons can click on the BRIDGES link and reach the BRIDGES home page, and install the free software on their home computers or mobile device, check out and download popular and audio books to their PC, and then transfer to a portable IBM-compatible MP3 player, iPod, or even burn some titles to CD and listen in the car. (Please note that this service works best with a high speed internet connection.) E-books may be downloaded as well.
This service is available 24/7. Among the growing collection are romance, mystery, and classic literature audio books. Non-fiction titles include biography, humor, business, careers, and more!
Patrons can check out up to three titles at a time, and at the end of the 7 or 14-day lending period, the audio books will expire from their device and be automatically returned into the BRIDGES digital collection. With the digital titles, there are no late fees or damage costs. The service is free, easy to use, and best of all, available from anywhere in the world.
